According to the book Baby Brain Rules, playing instruments and listening to music helps children stay attuned to emotions. Music is big on emotions (ask any professional pianist or violinist) so when children participate and are exposed to music, they have a better notion of emotion.

Thanks for getting in touch. Really pleased you liked my blogpost about fingerplays. We have kindermusik here in Australia too. My niece lives in Busselton (seaside town about two hours south of Perth) and she takes all three of her children to kindermusik. Sadly no kidz-fiz-biz down there! But it’s great that she has a wonderful alternative. I know several people who have sent their children along over the years and speak highly of it, so I wish you all the best with your centre.
